I taught in public schools for twelve years and was the department head as well. In 1985 I decided to pursue a career in art full time.
I think growing up in a rambling vintage farm house with decoratively papered walls was the probable foray into my stage-like settings. My use of allegory and sometimes dark humor is indigenous to the Midwest, Scandinavian, and Northern European folk lore. Recent works are like glimpses of soap operas created out of “whatever media necessary” (usually acrylic, house paint, graphite, ink, and collage).
