I have found that the grandeur of nature has the ability to uplift the soul, setting me upon the path that guides my artistic life. This emotional view of the world is something that I’ve tried to translate through my canvas so that the viewer can journey with me. Having been inspired by the impressionists, I strive to capture the vibrant energy and intrinsic
beauty of our natural surroundings.
In order to achieve the desired mood for my work, I utilize vivid colors, while contrasting the play of light and shadow to create drama. Building up layers of thick creamy oil paint with brushes and palette knives I can create a loose, free feeling in my paintings while adding to their sense of vitality and motion. Or by layering energetic diagonal strokes with my pastels I can make the natural settings in my images come to life and almost dance.
