My oil paintings are primarily scenes from Europe where I have traveled since 2001.
My love of travel, color and texture is the driving inspiration in my paintings. I work mostly in oil and prefer a loose, expressive approach. I prefer to work on a toned surface and apply pigment in layers, using palette knives, brushes and towels.
I like to start with a solid idea while allowing myself the freedom to explore the boundaries as the process takes on its own direction. I am more concerned with capturing a sense of feeling or atmosphere than creating a realistic rendition of a subject. Most importantly, I try to approach each work differently while continuously seeking new ways to challenge myself.
