Glass
I am inspired by molecular and architectural structures. I first studied the sciences-chemistry, biology, ichthyology-where I learned to look beyond the surface. I transferred my interest to the study of fine arts and glass blowing in the early 70s. I love the geometric shapes and crystalline forms.
I have always thought the perfume bottle was underrated as a format for artistic expression. It has so much to offer-form, color, surface, depth, interior, and exterior. The stopper allows an interplay that isn't available anywhere else. Facets are integral to the piece; they define the form and are the entrance to the interior.
