I have been a professional potter for over 20 years. I studied under master potter D. Miezenkowski at Fairmont State College in West Virginia, where he stressed fine forms and accepted nothing else. I have continued to work with stoneware and was doing well but felt it was too repetitious, not very creative and was limited to certain colors. So I have since changed clay bodies to a white earthenware and underglazes, adding slab building to his technique.
I specialize in unusual teapots, with an objective to give each one its own personality. I use a lot of bold colors in a patchwork design. Each patch is adorned with other designs which are all hand done using a syringe and brushes. I also specialize in handmade tiles. Laying out large sheets of clay and free-cutting them to create various size tables and mirrors. The tiles are then laid into hand-made wrought iron bases, or mirror frames.
