State Street Area Association has been a key player in creating a vibrant downtown community in Ann Arbor for over forty years. Entrepreneurs, building owners, non-profit organizations, University staff, and residents have all worked together to build a strong, service-oriented Association. The Association has represented our neighborhood to various governmental bodies and worked closely with public agencies, the University, the Downtown Development Authority, and other downtown associations to build an economically strong environment for area businesses. We are proud of our track record and will continue to meet the needs of our current members, seek new members, and build strategic alliances with other community groups to improve the quality of life on the streets of our area.
The Association has always placed a high priority on member services. We provide discounted monthly parking, sidewalk cleaning, snow removal, shared street cleaning, refuse collection, and extra police patrols. In addition, we coordinate programs such as Midnight Madness and sponsor cooperative advertising opportunities.
Offering the best possible service means listening to our members. The Association's success over the years can be credited to its ability to respond to the concerns of our community. For example, responding to member interests and requests, the Association has produced one of the leading Art Fairs in the country each July since 1968. The event, held in collaboration with two other downtown Art Fairs, attracts over 500,000 people to Ann Arbor.
The Association is continually assessing the needs of our neighborhood and providing services that meet the desires and aspirations of our members.
